How does my day to day look like and some funny facts about me 😊

Personal

Dear Reader,

Today a blog with a little more depth, with facts and trivia about me as a person. After all, what keeps me busy all day and what does a “normal” week look like for me?

For almost ten years I have been living abroad, without realizing it beforehand, that has of course a great impact on many things, including the care of our children. Work is incredibly important to me; I’ve always done it a lot and loved it. But of course without family close by, that is not always easy in practice. For me, everything has to be in balance, and the balance between working part-time and being with my children in the afternoon when they come home from school, is perfect. I wouldn’t say that work is “just” work, because it is so much more than that, self-development, you name it, but the time with the children (it goes so fast) is incredibly precious to me and I am so glad that we have found a good balance in this so.

But don`t get me wrong, this was absolutely not always the case. Indeed, in the beginning with twins and a 2.5-year-old in Spain (plus pandemic!!) it really wasn’t easy. But this too is part of it, this too is real life, it’s full of challenges, that’s the way it should be, you only grow as a person from that. Without lows no peaks and vice versa.

Some random facts about me:

  1. Our three daughters are our everything, they are “only” 2.5 years apart and are already best friends. As a mother, I so enjoy seeing our girls together. And yes, that includes occasional struggles, lets keep it real.
  2. When I learned I was pregnant with twins (my husband was on a work trip at the time) we were living in Mallorca and my first thoughts were; “I can’t do this, and mostly HOW are we going to do this”? With three children, incl. twins, with no help from our family. My husband, on the other hand, was immediately over the moon happy, it was always his wish to be able to have three children. And even though it really wasn’t/isn’t always easy, we came out of it as a couple so much stronger. My husband is really great, well, most of the time πŸ˜‰ .
  3. I have a huge passion for Interior Design and so I am working daily to change “small things” in our home. It is a big dream of mine to to turn this into something professional.
  4. A new plant and a coffee To Go, are my absolute push to “Feel Good,” whenever I feel a little bit down.
  5. Our family of five is a mix of many cultures, my husband is half German and half Italian, I am Dutch with Indonesian roots and our three daughters were born in Spain.
  6. When we are in a restaurant or so, we speak 3 or 4 different languages in a short time , people around us often do not understand anything about the whole constellation πŸ˜‰ .
  7. I am currently taking an Italian language course, for me language number 5. This while it would be smarter to optimize my German, aber sorry liebe Leute, I just love Latin languages much more….
  8. I am an introvert until I feel comfortable somewhere, ask my youth friends πŸ˜‰.
  9. I love a tidy house and am allergic to “too” much stuff. Something I could so appreciate from our time in Spain, many people “own” little but are so happy. Something we can learn a lot from here. Happiness is not related to the amount of stuff you have.
  10. I’m completely camera shy, pretty crazy that I’m going to teach online classes. This is therefore quite a challenge for me. My dream, however, is to teach live classes, in our own future Air BnB, somewhere where the sun shines.
  11. I am an absolute fan of the spring and the summer and occasionally suffer from “winter depression”, Hi Germany where there is a grey cloud for way too long. Secretly, my husband and I dream of moving South again.
  12. I am so positively surprised by the lovely people here in Germany. We are definitely lucky because of our location (quite international), but hey, how sweet and welcoming they are. At least our friends πŸ˜‰.
  13. In conclusion, FAMILY IS ALL. And by that I mean our whole family, in Holland, in Germany and in Italy and where they all live.

So dear reader, hopefully you got to know me a little better after reading this blog. I really look forward to getting to know you too in my classes.

Hope to see you soon.

Love Tamara
